A Call To Follow The Right Pattern

Written by Ralph Mark B. Malinao

— 1 Corinthians 4:15–16

There is no shortage of voices today.

Teachers.
Preachers.
Influencers.
Opinions everywhere.

Paul says:

“Though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ…”

Ten thousand voices.
Ten thousand perspectives.
Ten thousand directions.

But then he adds something striking:

“…yet have ye not many fathers…”

Why?

Because not every teacher is a pattern.
Not every voice is a foundation.
Not every message produces spiritual life.

Paul says:

“For in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.”

That’s the key.

• Spiritual fatherhood is tied to the gospel.
• The right gospel produces the right life.
• The right message produces the right identity.

And in this dispensation…

That gospel is clear:

“Christ died for our sins… was buried… and rose again the third day”
— 1 Corinthians 15:3–4

This is the message that forms the Body of Christ.
This is the message committed to Paul.
This is the message for today.

So when Paul says:

“Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.”

He is not pointing to himself as a man.

He is pointing to a pattern.

A pattern of truth.
A pattern of doctrine.
A pattern of grace.

• Follow Paul—not personality, but pattern

Right doctrine for the right dispensation

• Follow Paul—not religion, but revelation

Truth revealed by the risen Christ (Galatians 1:11–12)

• Follow Paul—not law, but grace

“For ye are not under the law, but under grace” (Romans 6:14)

• Follow Paul—not Israel’s program, but the mystery

“According to the revelation of the mystery…” (Romans 16:25)

This is where many miss it.

They follow Jesus in His earthly ministry—
but ignore what He revealed from heaven through Paul.

They mix programs.
They mix messages.
They mix identities.

And the result?

Confusion.
Instability.
Spiritual frustration.

But when you see Paul’s apostleship rightly…

Everything changes.

Clarity replaces confusion.
Peace replaces striving.
Grace replaces performance.

So the call is simple:

Not just to listen…
Not just to learn…
But to follow.

Follow the pattern.
Follow the doctrine.
Follow the apostle given to us.

Because when you follow Paul’s message—

You are following Christ… according to the revelation of the mystery.

And that is where real growth begins.
