“For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits…”

There is a danger Paul warns us about.
Not ignorance alone…
But chosen ignorance.
Not just what we don’t know…
But what we refuse to see.
Paul says plainly—
If we remain ignorant of the mystery,
we will become wise in our own conceits.
That means:
• Confident… but wrong
• Religious… but misaligned
• Sincere… but not according to truth
And what is this mystery?
It is not something hidden to keep you in the dark.
It was hidden… but now revealed.
“According to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest…”
— Romans 16:25–26
The mystery is God’s present program—
the dispensation of the grace of God (Ephesians 3:1–3).
It is:
• Christ revealed in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:26–27)
• The formation of the Body of Christ, Jew and Gentile in one new man
• A heavenly purpose, not an earthly kingdom program
When this is ignored… confusion takes over.
You begin to:
• Mix Israel with the Body of Christ
• Claim promises God never gave you
• Miss the power of grace for today
And slowly… subtly…
you become wise in your own conceits.
You think you understand the Bible—
but the Bible is no longer rightly divided (2 Timothy 2:15).
You speak confidently—
but not according to Paul’s pattern.
Friend, this is why Paul says:
“I would not have you to be ignorant…”
God does not want you guessing.
God does not want you blending programs.
God does not want you walking in confusion.
He wants you to see clearly.
To understand:
• What God was doing with Israel
• What God is now doing in grace
• What God will yet do in the kingdom
Right division is not optional.
It is essential.
Not for pride…
But for clarity.
Not to win arguments…
But to walk in truth.
So don’t settle for:
• Tradition over Scripture
• Assumption over revelation
• Religion over right division
Open Paul’s epistles.
See the mystery.
Stand in grace.
Because when you see what God is doing today,
you won’t be wise in your own conceits…
You’ll be established in the truth of this present dispensation.
