There’s a subtle idea that slips into Christian thinking:
“I’m being saved little by little.”
“I’ll finally be complete if I endure enough.”
“Salvation is a process I must finish.”
But that is not how Paul describes the believer in this dispensation of grace.
He says plainly:
“And ye are complete in him…” (Colossians 2:10)
Not becoming complete.
Not working toward complete.
Not conditionally complete.
Complete.
▪️What Does That Mean?
It means the moment you trusted the gospel of the grace of God —
• You were justified (Romans 5:1)
• You were sealed (Ephesians 1:13)
• You were placed into the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13)
• You were blessed with all spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3)
Not partially.
Not progressively.
Fully.
Salvation in this dispensation is not installment-based.
It is finished the moment you believe.
Growth Is Progressive.
Salvation Is Not.
Now let’s be clear.
Spiritual growth? Yes — that’s progressive.
Paul says:
“Be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” (Ephesians 4:23)
That takes time.
Maturity develops.
Understanding deepens.
Fruit increases.
But your standing before God?
That was settled at the cross.
And applied the moment you believed.
▪️Why This Matters
If salvation is progressive, then:
• Assurance becomes unstable.
• Joy becomes fragile.
• Service becomes fear-driven.
But if you are complete in Christ:
• You serve from security.
• You grow from acceptance.
• You obey from gratitude.
You don’t work for salvation.
You work because of salvation.
Under Israel’s kingdom program, endurance language appears.
Covenant faithfulness mattered within that prophetic framework.
But in the revelation of the mystery given to Paul:
“By grace are ye saved through faith… not of works.” (Ephesians 2:8–9)
Saved.
Past tense.
Done.
Established.
The Body of Christ does not live on probation.
We live in grace.
▪️What About Daily Failure?
Yes, we fail.
Yes, we stumble.
Yes, we grieve the Spirit.
But our completeness is not based on our performance.
It is based on Christ’s.
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1)
Notice — now.
Not after improvement.
Not after endurance.
Now.
▪️Let This Settle You
You are not climbing toward acceptance.
You are accepted in the Beloved (Ephesians 1:6).
You are not slowly becoming saved.
You are saved — and now you grow.
You are not earning completeness.
You are complete — and now you mature.
Rest there.
Stand there.
Serve from there.
Complete in Christ.
Secure in grace.
Growing — but already saved.
