If it is God’s will that all men see the fellowship of the mystery (Ephesians 3:9),
then it should not surprise us that Satan’s goal is to make sure almost no one does.
God wants:
• All men to be saved (1 Timothy 2:4)
• All men to come to the knowledge of the truth
• All men to understand what He is doing today in the Dispensation of Grace
So what does Satan do?
He blinds.
He confuses.
He counterfeits.
“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not…” (2 Corinthians 4:4)
▪️The Mystery Has Been There All Along
The truth for today is not hidden in a secret vault.
It is written plainly:
“The preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery…” (Romans 16:25)
And yet — how many pulpits will open to Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John
without ever explaining Paul’s distinctive apostleship?
The message for Israel’s earthly kingdom
is preached as though it were the message for the Body of Christ.
And the Mystery remains unseen.
Not because it isn’t in the Bible.
But because it is not rightly divided.
▪️We Minister in Enemy Territory
Paul did.
We do.
Believers today operate behind enemy lines.
Satan is called:
• “The god of this world” (2 Corinthians 4:4)
• A deceiver (2 Corinthians 11:14)
• One with “wiles” — strategies of deception (Ephesians 6:11)
His warfare is not primarily political.
Not primarily physical.
Not primarily sensational.
His warfare is doctrinal.
“Giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.” (1 Timothy 4:1)
Notice that.
Doctrines of devils.
The battlefield is theology.
▪️Two Great Blindnesses
Satan works in two directions at once:
1. Blinding the lost from the Gospel.
2. Blinding the saved from the Mystery.
He blinds unbelievers:
“Lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ… should shine unto them.” (2 Corinthians 4:4)
And how does he do it?
Through counterfeit gospels.
• Salvation by works
• Salvation by law-keeping
• Salvation by water baptism
• Salvation by perseverance
• Salvation by Calvinistic fatalism
• Salvation by moral reform
Yet the true Gospel is clear:
Christ died for our sins… was buried… rose again the third day. (1 Corinthians 15:1–4)
By grace are ye saved through faith… not of works. (Ephesians 2:8–9)
Satan knows that Gospel.
And he hates it.
▪️False Religion Is Not Neutral
Paul said:
“The things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils.” (1 Corinthians 10:20)
Behind false religion is real spiritual influence.
This is not superstition.
It is Scripture.
Satan does not always appear evil.
“Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” (2 Corinthians 11:14)
He looks credible.
He sounds biblical.
He quotes Scripture — out of context.
The most dangerous deception
is not obvious wickedness.
It is religious sincerity
without right division.
▪️The Snare of the Devil
When people believe false doctrine, Paul says they are:
“Taken captive by him at his will.” (2 Timothy 2:26)
That is sobering.
False doctrine is not harmless.
It ensnares.
It blinds.
It opposes the believer’s own spiritual growth.
That is why the servant of the Lord must:
• Be gentle
• Be patient
• In meekness instruct
Because we are not fighting people.
We are confronting deception.
▪️What Is Our Defense?
Not exorcisms.
Not superstition.
Not emotionalism.
Our defense is Scripture.
“Search the scriptures daily…” (Acts 17:11)
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God… rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)
If Satan’s warfare is doctrinal,
then our stability must be doctrinal.
We must be:
• People of the Book
• People of Paul’s epistles
• People who understand the Mystery
• People grounded in grace
Repetition matters because clarity matters:
Right doctrine protects.
Right division stabilizes.
Rightly preached grace liberates.
▪️The Tragedy
The tragedy is this:
People are saying “no”
to the very Gospel that grants eternal life.
Blinded.
Confused.
Religious — but lost.
And many saints are saved —
yet ignorant of their identity in the Body of Christ.
Both are casualties
of doctrinal warfare.
▪️The Call
Stand.
Study.
Preach the Gospel of the Grace of God (Acts 20:24).
Make all men see the fellowship of the Mystery (Ephesians 3:9).
Do not be distracted.
Do not be intimidated.
Do not be discouraged.
Deception is Satan’s strategy.
Truth — rightly divided — is ours.
And greater is He that is in you
than he that is in the world.
