Some verses sound like they were written yesterday.
This is one of them.
Paul describes a generation that is surrounded by information,
overflowing with knowledge,
yet starving for truth.
People who are always learning…
but never coming to the knowledge of the truth.
Not because truth is unavailable.
Not because God is silent.
But because they refuse the one thing God is doing today.
And that is where this message begins.
1. Learning Without Landing
Paul’s warning is not about ignorance.
It’s about unstable minds—people who never land on God’s revealed will.
They browse sermons.
They chase new teachings.
They absorb spiritual content endlessly…
…but they never come to rest in what God has actually made known for this dispensation.
They are ever learning,
but never knowing.
Why?
Because truth must be received where God placed it.
And today, He placed it in the revelation given to Paul (Romans 11:13).
2. The Missing Piece Is the Mystery
A person can know Bible stories,
quote commands,
memorize verses,
attend conferences…
…but if they do not understand the Mystery,
they will forever feel like they’re putting together a puzzle with missing pieces.
Paul said the Mystery was:
• Kept secret (Romans 16:25)
• Hid in God (Ephesians 3:9)
• Not made known unto the sons of men (Ephesians 3:5)
Without this truth, believers stay in spiritual confusion.
They learn everything except what God is doing right now.
So they end up…
Learning.
But never knowing.
Searching.
But never settling.
Studying.
But never understanding.
Because the key is missing.
3. What God Is Doing Today
Paul writes with clarity:
• We live under grace, not law (Romans 6:14).
• God is forming the Body of Christ, not a kingdom on earth (1 Corinthians 12:13).
• Salvation is by grace through faith, without works (Ephesians 2:8–9).
• Our identity is in Christ, not in Israel’s covenants (Ephesians 2:11–13).
• Our hope is heavenly, not earthly (Philippians 3:20).
This is what God is doing today.
And when a believer understands this,
everything else begins to align.
Confusion dissolves.
Contradictions settle.
Purpose becomes clear.
Truth finally becomes knowable.
4. The Cure for an Ever-Learning Mind
The cure is not more information.
The cure is rightly dividing the Word of Truth (2 Timothy 2:15).
It is learning:
• What God said to Israel,
• What God says to us,
• What God will do in the ages to come.
It is letting prophecy be prophecy.
Letting mystery be mystery.
Letting the Bible be the Bible—
in the order God wrote it.
Right division does not limit Scripture.
It liberates it.
It clarifies it.
It opens every page with purpose.
And suddenly, believers stop being “ever learning.”
They begin knowing.
Beloved, spiritual stability is not found in gathering more teachings.
It is found in understanding the one teaching God gave to us through Paul.
• This is how Christ is revealed today.
• This is how the gospel is made clear.
• This is how the Christian life becomes grounded and joyful.
You don’t need new truth.
You need the truth God already revealed.
You don’t need more revelation.
You need the revelation God already gave.
You don’t need to keep searching endlessly.
You need to rest where God is speaking today.
Conclusion:
“Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth”
is not the description of a weak mind.
It is the description of a misdirected mind.
A mind looking everywhere
except where God is speaking today.
But once the Mystery is seen…
once the gospel of the grace of God is understood…
once the Bible is rightly divided…
Learning becomes knowing.
Knowing becomes confidence.
Confidence becomes spiritual maturity.
And a believer finally stands complete in Christ (Colossians 2:10).
