When you rightly divide the Word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15),
the Bible begins to breathe.
Not because we’re inventing distinctions…
but because we’re finally seeing the ones God already made.
And one of the clearest distinctions in Scripture is this:
God has a purpose for the earth.
And God has a purpose in heaven.
Two spheres.
Two callings.
One eternal plan in Christ.
▪️God’s Purpose for the Earth
From Genesis to Revelation, the earth is central to prophecy.
“Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.”
— Matthew 5:5
The prophets spoke of:
• A literal kingdom
• A restored Israel
• A reigning Messiah in Jerusalem
• The nations blessed through Abraham
God promised Abraham land.
He promised David a throne.
He promised Israel a kingdom.
That’s not symbolic.
That’s covenant.
The earthly program is about:
• A throne in Jerusalem
• The twelve apostles judging the twelve tribes (Matthew 19:28)
• The law written in their hearts (Jeremiah 31:33)
• The earth filled with the knowledge of the Lord
That is prophecy.
That is Israel’s hope.
That is God’s purpose for the earth.
▪️God’s Purpose in Heaven
But then—something was revealed that had been kept secret.
A mystery.
“Which in other ages was not made known…”
— Ephesians 3:5
Through Paul, God revealed something new:
A Body.
A heavenly people.
A calling above, not on the earth.
“And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
— Ephesians 2:6
Not heirs of the land.
But members of His Body.
Not waiting for a throne in Jerusalem.
But blessed “with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3).
This is not prophecy fulfilled.
This is mystery revealed.
The dispensation of the grace of God (Ephesians 3:2).
▪️One Plan. Two Realms.
God is not confused.
He is reconciling:
• The earth through Israel’s kingdom program
• The heavens through the Body of Christ
“That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth…”
— Ephesians 1:10
He will fill the earth with His glory.
He will fill the heavens with His glory.
Different agencies.
Different administrations.
Same Lord Jesus Christ.
▪️Why This Matters
When you mix these two purposes:
You confuse law and grace.
You blur Israel and the Church.
You misapply promises.
But when you rightly divide:
Clarity replaces confusion.
Grace stands on its own.
Christ’s finished work shines.
We are not Israel.
We are not under the law.
We are not awaiting an earthly kingdom.
We are the Body of Christ.
Saved by grace.
Sealed unto the day of redemption.
Seated in heavenly places.
That is our identity.
That is our hope.
That is our calling.
So rejoice.
God’s purpose for the earth will stand.
God’s purpose in heaven will stand.
And today—
in this present dispensation—
He is forming a heavenly people through the gospel of grace:
“Christ died for our sins… was buried… and rose again the third day.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:1–4
Believe it.
Stand in it.
Preach it.
Because when you see God’s twofold purpose,
you don’t diminish His plan—
You magnify it.
