How God Works In You Today

Written by Ralph Mark B. Malinao

— The Power Of Grace In This Present Dispensation

God’s grace is not soft, weak, or emotional. Grace is God’s power operating today—revealed uniquely and clearly through the apostle Paul for this present age.

And if there’s one issue every believer must settle, it is this:

👉 How exactly does God work in your life today?

Not based on tradition…
Not based on church systems…
But based solely on what God says in His rightly divided Word.

1. GOD WORKS TODAY THROUGH HIS WRITTEN WORD — NOT THROUGH SIGNS OR VOICES OR CIRCUMSTANCES

Paul explains it with unmistakable clarity:

“…the word of God… effectually worketh also in you that believe.”
— 1 Thess. 2:13

His Word effectually works in those who believe it—
• Not through emotional highs
• Not through supernatural impressions
• Not through chasing experiences
• Not through circumstances interpreted as “signs”

Today, the Holy Spirit energizes and transforms believers through doctrine, through the Scripture He inspired (2 Tim. 3:16).

This is God’s method in the dispensation of grace.

2. RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE WORD IS ESSENTIAL TO KNOWING GOD’S WORK TODAY

All Scripture is written for us, but not all Scripture is written to us or about us.

If we take Israel’s promises, Israel’s covenants, Israel’s national signs, and Israel’s prophetic program and apply them to ourselves, we create confusion and disappointment.

Paul says plainly:

“I am the apostle of the Gentiles…”
— Rom. 11:13

And the risen Christ commissioned Paul with the revelation of the mystery (Eph. 3:1–9).

This is our doctrine.
This is our program.
This is the source of clarity.

3. WHY TODAY’S “TONGUES & MIRACLE” MOVEMENTS MISS THE MARK

Many sincere Christians chase signs—prophets, healers, “apostolic fire,” and “revivals.”

But the key question in Bible interpretation is:

👉“To whom was this spoken?”

Look at Peter in Acts 2:

“Ye men of Israel…” — Acts 2:22
“Let all the house of Israel know…” — Acts 2:36

The audience was unmistakably Israel—
Not Gentiles, not the Body of Christ, not the church of today.

Why so many miracles in the Gospels and early Acts?

Because Israel required signs:

“For the Jews require a sign…” — 1 Cor. 1:22

Jesus and the apostles performed real, immediate, undeniable signs to confirm the Kingdom program to Israel (Matt. 4:23; Heb. 2:3–4).

4. SO WHY DID PAUL PERFORM MIRACLES EARLY IN HIS MINISTRY?

Romans 15:18–19 gives the explanation:

Paul’s early signs authenticated:

• That Christ had truly risen
• That Israel’s prophetic program was being paused
• That God was turning to the Gentiles
• That Paul carried divine authority

But this confirmation was temporary, because the revelation Paul preached was itself still in progress (1 Cor. 13:9).

5. PAUL SAYS SIGN GIFTS WOULD END WHEN “THE PERFECT” ARRIVED

Paul foretold the end of the miraculous sign program:

“Tongues shall cease… prophecy shall fail…”
— 1 Cor. 13:8

Why?

“We know in part… but when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away.”
— 1 Cor. 13:10

What is “the perfect”?

Not heaven.
Not the Lord’s return.
Not maturity.

Scripture defines it:

“…that the man of God may be PERFECT, thoroughly furnished…”
— 2 Tim. 3:17

The “perfect” is the completed written Word of God, especially the full revelation committed to Paul.
When the Scriptures were completed, the temporary supernatural sign gifts passed off the scene.

Today, the Spirit works through truth, not through signs.

6. EVEN UNDER ISRAEL’S PROGRAM, SIGNS NEVER OUTRANKED SCRIPTURE

People are surprised when they read:

Even if a prophet performed a sign that came true, Israel was commanded to reject him if his message contradicted God’s Word.
— Deut. 13:1–5

The miracle was never the authority.
The Word was always superior.

7. TODAY GOD GIVES GIFTS—BUT NOT THE KIND MANY EXPECT

In this dispensation of grace, God gives:

• Eternal life (Rom. 6:23)
• The permanent indwelling Spirit (Eph. 1:13–14)
• The completed Bible (2 Tim. 3:16–17)
• Spiritual understanding through Paul’s revelation (Eph. 1:17–19)

What He does NOT give today:

• Apostles
• Prophets
• Tongues
• Healing crusades
• New revelations
• “Fresh words from the Lord”

Everything God wants us to know is preserved in the Book.

8. GOD’S WORD RIGHTLY DIVIDED SETS YOU FREE

When you understand Paul’s gospel and God’s program today, you become free:

• Free from legalism
• Free from superstition
• Free from religious performance
• Free from emotional confusion
• Free from fear-based Christianity

Clarity comes from understanding God’s will through the “mystery” revealed to Paul (Col. 1:25–27).

9. LET GRACE BE THE POWER THAT WORKS IN YOU TODAY

Stop looking for God in feelings.
Stop trying to interpret circumstances as secret signs.
Stop expecting God to operate according to Israel’s prophetic program.

Instead:

• Trust the gospel that saves (1 Cor. 15:1–4)
• Stand in your identity in Christ (Eph. 1–3)
• Walk according to Pauline truth (Rom. 6–8)
• Serve out of gratitude, not guilt
• Hold fast to the sound doctrine given for the Body of Christ

This is how God works today.
This is how grace operates in the believer.
This is the liberty of the dispensation of grace.

What amazing grace!

He finished the work.
To Him be glory forever.
