If the Church Is in Prophecy…

Written by Ralph Mark B. Malinao

Why Does Paul Say It Was a “Mystery Kept Secret”?
(Romans 16:25)

That question changes everything.

Because if the Church was already predicted in prophecy…

Then Paul couldn’t honestly call it
“a mystery kept secret since the world began.”

But he does.

And God does not use words loosely.

Slow down and think about it.

The Bible uses two very different words:

Prophecy
→ spoken since the world began

Mystery
→ kept secret since the world began

Both cannot be true about the same thing.

It must be one
or the other.

Not both.

▪️What prophecy speaks about

Peter tells us clearly:

“Which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.”
(Acts 3:21)

Prophecy concerns:

• Israel
• the kingdom
• the land
• the throne of David
• Christ reigning on earth

Everything promised was spoken.
Nothing hidden.

The prophets saw it.
They wrote about it.
They expected it.

▪️But listen to Paul

Now read his words slowly:

“According to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.”
(Romans 16:25)

Not spoken.
Not predicted.
Not hinted.

Kept secret.

Hidden in God.

Never revealed before.

Until…

Paul.

▪️So what is this “mystery”?

It’s not Israel restored.
It’s not the kingdom postponed.
It’s not prophecy delayed.

It is something brand new.

▪️Ephesians 3:5–6

“In other ages was not made known…
That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body…”

There it is.

Not Israel and Gentiles separate.

Not Gentiles blessed through Israel.

But:

• one Body
• equal standing
• heavenly calling
• no distinction

The Body of Christ.

▪️This changes how you read the Bible

If you mix prophecy and mystery…

You get confusion.

But when you rightly divide…

You get clarity.

You stop trying to:

• claim Israel’s promises
• live under kingdom laws
• expect signs and wonders
• force prophecy into the Church

Instead, you rest in grace.

Pure grace.

▪️Here’s the simple truth

The Church is not:

• Prophesied
• Promised
• Israel continued

The Church is:

• Revealed to Paul
• Called a mystery
• Heavenly in position
• Formed by grace

▪️Why this matters personally

This isn’t just doctrine.

It’s comfort.

Because today:

God is not testing you under law.
God is not waiting for your performance.
God is not dealing with you nationally.

He is saving you by grace.
He is placing you into Christ.
He is giving you a heavenly hope.

Not earned.

Not deserved.

Given.

▪️So remember

Prophecy was spoken.
The mystery was hidden.

Prophecy concerns Israel.
The mystery concerns the Body of Christ.

Prophecy looks to earth.
The mystery looks to heaven.

And today…

We live in the dispensation of the grace of God.
(Ephesians 3:2)

Stand in that grace.
Rest in that truth.
And preach Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery.
(Romans 16:25)

Because once you see the difference…

The whole Bible finally makes sense.
