Many believers read the New Testament without noticing one of the most important truths God reveals for this present Dispensation of Grace:
Paul was given a unique apostleship, a distinct message, and a new revelation directly from the risen and glorified Christ.
This is not opinion—this is Scripture speaking plainly.
Apostle Paul: Chosen, Appointed, and Sent by the Risen Christ
When Jesus was on earth, He chose twelve apostles for His earthly ministry to Israel (Matthew 10:5–6; Matthew 19:28). Their mission was tied to Israel’s prophetic Kingdom program.
But after Israel rejected their Messiah (Acts 7), the Lord did something never before revealed:
• He saved Saul of Tarsus by grace
• Commissioned him directly from heaven
• And sent him as “the apostle of the Gentiles”
Paul declares it boldly:
“For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles…”
(Romans 11:13)
This apostleship was not second-hand, nor inherited from the Twelve. It was new and distinct:
“Paul, an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ…”
(Galatians 1:1)
No council chose him.
No apostle ordained him.
Christ Himself appeared (Acts 9; 22; 26) and entrusted him with a new message.
The Revelation of the Mystery: Paul’s Exclusive Stewardship
God gave Paul something kept secret since the world began:
“…the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began…”
(Romans 16:25)
This truth was never revealed to the prophets, to Israel, or to the Twelve:
“Which in other ages was not made known…”
(Ephesians 3:5)
“…hid in God…”
(Ephesians 3:9)
It was given first to Paul:
“By revelation He made known unto me the mystery…”
(Ephesians 3:3)
This is why Paul could say:
“I am the minister…to fulfill (complete) the word of God.”
(Colossians 1:25)
Paul didn’t just preach—he completed the doctrinal revelation for this dispensation.
A Distinct Gospel Entrusted to Paul
Paul speaks of “my gospel” several times (Romans 2:16; 16:25; 2 Timothy 2:8).
Why? Because Jesus Christ gave him a gospel that was not known before:
“The gospel…which was preached of me is not after man…but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
(Galatians 1:11–12)
This is the gospel we preach today:
Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again
(1 Corinthians 15:1–4)
Not as the message of the earthly kingdom, not as repentance-and-baptism for Israel, but as the good news of free and full salvation by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8–9).
A Distinct Apostleship With a Distinct Audience
Peter and the Twelve were apostles of the circumcision (Galatians 2:7–8).
Paul was given a new sphere of ministry:
“He is a chosen vessel unto Me, to bear My name before the Gentiles…”
(Acts 9:15)
So God gave two legitimate ministries:
• Peter → Israel, the circumcision
• Paul → The Gentiles, all nations, the Body of Christ
Different apostles.
Different messages.
Different programs.
Same Lord (1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:5).
Why Paul’s Distinct Apostleship Matters Today
If we ignore Paul’s role, we mix Israel’s program with the Body of Christ.
We start claiming Israel’s promises instead of understanding our heavenly calling.
We confuse law with grace, prophecy with mystery, kingdom gospel with the gospel of the grace of God.
But when we follow the pattern Christ gave through Paul (1 Timothy 1:16), everything becomes clear:
✔️ Salvation by grace alone
✔ One Body, neither Jew nor Gentile
✔ A heavenly hope, not an earthly kingdom
✔ The indwelling Spirit, not temple ordinances
✔ A complete revelation for this dispensation
Paul’s Distinct Apostleship Is Not a Side Doctrine — It’s God’s Blueprint for Today
To understand God’s will for the Body of Christ, we must understand:
Paul’s apostleship is distinct.
His message is unique.
His revelation completes God’s word for this age of grace.
This is why Paul commands:
“Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.”
(1 Corinthians 11:1)
Not because Paul is above Christ,
but because Christ gave Paul the pattern to follow today.
