—It Lets It Agree With Itself
One of the most common objections to rightly dividing the Word of God is this:
“You’re dividing the Bible.”
But here’s the truth:
The Bible is already divided by God.
The question is not whether divisions exist.
The question is whether we will recognize the divisions that God Himself has revealed.
Paul writes:
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
— 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
Notice that Paul did not tell Timothy to invent divisions.
He told him to rightly divide what God had already written.
Right division doesn’t break the Bible apart.
It allows every passage to remain true within the context of God’s unfolding plan.
It lets the Bible agree with itself.
The greatest key to understanding Scripture is recognizing the distinction between Prophecy and Mystery.
Prophecy is God’s plan that was spoken since the world began.
Peter declared:
“…which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.”
— Acts 3:21 (KJV)
The prophetic program centers on Israel, the earthly kingdom, and the fulfillment of God’s promises made to Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and David.
It was openly foretold throughout the Old Testament.
The Mystery, however, is something entirely different.
Paul writes:
“Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel… according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.”
— Romans 16:25 (KJV)
Notice the contrast.
👉 Prophecy was spoken since the world began.
👉 The Mystery was kept secret since the world began.
These are not contradictory truths.
They are two different aspects of God’s revealed purpose.
When we fail to distinguish them, confusion follows.
We begin mixing Israel with the Body of Christ.
We combine Law with Grace.
We confuse God’s earthly kingdom program with His present heavenly purpose for the Church.
As a result, believers often struggle with questions like:
“Why don’t I see the miracles promised in the Gospels?”
“Why am I trying to obey commands that were given under Israel’s kingdom program?”
“Why does Paul emphasize things that seem different from what Jesus taught in His earthly ministry?”
The answer is found in right division.
God raised up a new apostle with a new stewardship.
Paul says:
“For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles…”
— Romans 11:13 (KJV)
Through Paul, the risen Christ revealed the Dispensation of the Grace of God (Ephesians 3:2).
Today, God is not building Israel’s earthly kingdom.
He is forming the Body of Christ, a heavenly people blessed:
“With all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.”
— Ephesians 1:3 (KJV)
This does not make the Old Testament, the Gospels, or Hebrews through Revelation less important.
Far from it.
Every book of the Bible is inspired by God.
Every book is true.
Every book is profitable.
But not every instruction is addressed directly to the Church, the Body of Christ.
That is why right division is essential.
It preserves the integrity of every passage while allowing God’s progressive revelation to unfold exactly as He intended.
Most importantly, right division protects the clarity of the gospel.
Paul reminds us of the message by which we are saved today:
“How that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
— 1 Corinthians 15:3–4 (KJV)
Our salvation is not found in religious rituals.
Not in law-keeping.
Not in Israel’s kingdom requirements.
It is found entirely in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Because we are in Christ, we possess a heavenly calling, complete acceptance before God, and eternal security by His grace.
So don’t be afraid of right division.
Embrace it.
It doesn’t divide the Bible wrongly.
It lets the Bible agree with itself.
And when the Bible agrees with itself, God’s purpose becomes wonderfully clear, Christ is magnified, and the riches of His grace shine brighter than ever.
