Understanding God’s Program Through Paul’s Distinct Apostleship
Most Christians love the Bible, study the Bible, and quote the Bible…
But far fewer understand HOW to study it the way God instructs:
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God… rightly dividing the word of truth.”
— 2 Timothy 2:15
Right Division doesn’t mean “cutting verses out.”
It simply means recognizing the differences God Himself placed in Scripture—so we don’t mix programs that were never meant to be mixed.
And this is exactly where Mid-Acts Pauline Dispensationalism brings clarity.
1. The Bible Has Different Programs
God has ONE plan of redemption—but He has worked through different dispensations, stewardships, and instructions throughout history.
The Bible is not one continuous instruction manual for the same group of people.
From Genesis to Revelation, God deals with:
• Israel (a nation, with earthly promises)
• The Body of Christ (a heavenly organism, with heavenly promises)
Mix them—and confusion follows.
Rightly divide them—and the Bible opens up like never before.
2. Jesus’ Earthly Ministry Was to Israel
Many miss this simple, repeated truth:
• “I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” (Matt. 15:24)
• “He came unto His own…” (John 1:11)
• The 12 apostles were promised to sit on 12 thrones judging the 12 tribes of Israel (Matt. 19:28)
Christ’s earthly ministry was Kingdom-focused, grounded in Old Testament prophecy, and tied to Israel’s covenants.
Nothing in Matthew–John describes the forming of the Body of Christ or the revelation of the Mystery.
3. Paul Receives a NEW Revelation
When Israel fell in unbelief (Acts 7), God revealed something never before known, kept secret since the world began:
• “…the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began…” — Romans 16:25
• “…the dispensation of the grace of God… how that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery…” — Ephesians 3:2–9
• “…which in other ages was not made known…” — Ephesians 3:5
This is NOT the program Jesus taught the 12.
It is NOT prophecy.
It is a mystery revealed ONLY to Paul.
4. Today We Live in the Dispensation of Grace
Paul’s message is God’s instruction for this current age:
• Salvation by grace alone, through faith alone (Eph. 2:8–9)
• No law, no temple, no Sabbath command (Rom. 6:14; Col. 2:16–17)
• No distinction between Jew and Gentile (Gal. 3:28)
• One Body, one new man, seated in heavenly places (Eph. 2:15; Eph. 1:3; Eph. 2:6)
This program was NOT revealed before Paul.
It is unique.
It is distinct.
It is for TODAY.
5. Why Right Division Matters
When people mix Israel’s prophetic program with the Church’s mystery program, they end up with:
• Confusion about tongues
• Confusion about water baptism
• Confusion about tithing
• Confusion about the Great Commission
• Confusion about end times
• Confusion about losing salvation
• Confusion about prayer promises (“ask anything…” vs. “pray with thanksgiving”)
• Confusion about the Kingdom vs. the Body of Christ
Right division clears all this up—because it respects what God said, to whom He said it, and when He said it.
6. What Happens When You Rightly Divide?
Suddenly Scripture begins to fit together seamlessly:
• Prophecy (Genesis–Acts 7)
• Mystery (Acts 9–Philemon)
• Fulfillment (Hebrews–Revelation)
Israel’s earthly promises make sense.
The Body of Christ’s heavenly promises make sense.
The Bible stops contradicting—and starts harmonizing.
This is exactly why Paul commands us to study by rightly dividing.
Conclusion:
Right division doesn’t exalt Paul—it exalts Christ’s finished work made known through Paul.
It doesn’t create division—it eliminates confusion.
It doesn’t remove Scripture—it opens Scripture.
