Romans 6 Cross Changes You Not Baptism with Water

Written by Ralph Mark B. Malinao

Romans 6 Is Not About Water — It’S About The Cross.

Anyone who forces water into that chapter is pushing a system that undercuts the finished work of Christ.

That may sound strong—but truth is strong.
The gospel isn’t hard to understand… it’s just hard for the flesh to believe.

The only offense I ever want you to feel is the offense of the cross.
Not my words, not denominational labels—the cross.
Because the cross declares:
👉 Christ is everything.
👉 Human effort is nothing.

Romans 6:3 doesn’t say a drop about water.
It says we were baptized into Christ,
buried with Him,
raised with Him,
and now we’re dead to sin and alive unto God.

That is identity truth.
And identity truth destroys performance religion.

Religion says:
“Try harder. Do better. Work more.”

Grace says:
“Christ already did it. Live from who you are.”

You can’t mix those systems.
Performance-based religion over here…
The gift-based life in Christ over there.

When you sin, you’ll respond one of two ways:

❌ Under the Law:
“I messed up—I need to perform my way back.”
That only breeds more failure.

✔️ Under Grace:
“I see that sin—but Christ already died for that.
That’s not who I am anymore.”
That’s Titus 2. Grace teaches us to deny what doesn’t match our new identity,
and to live out who God says we already are.

This is Galatians 2:20 living—
depending on God’s Word the same way Christ depended on His Father’s will.

You really are forgiven.
You really are dead to sin.
Christ really does live in you.

So why waste your life on the same sin that nailed your Savior to the cross?

Whether it’s sexual sin, addictions, anger, bitterness, religious pride, or “good works” done to impress God—it’s all a waste of time compared to who you are in Christ.

What you depend on is what will control your life.

Get into God’s Word.
Discover who you are in Christ.
See where you fit in God’s eternal purpose for His Son.
Let that truth renew your mind.
Let it reshape the details of your everyday life.
That’s how transformation happens—
not by rules, but by truth living inside you.

If you want to do God’s will…
Find out what He’s doing today.
Then just believe it—and walk in it.

That’s where real joy begins.
That’s where victory becomes your lifestyle.
And I want that for you.
