Many believers think the goal is simply to “get to heaven.”
But Scripture shows something far greater.
There is service now… and reward later.
And it all matters.
Paul reminds us that our daily life is not ordinary—it is service unto Christ.
Colossians 3:23 (KJV)
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”
This changes everything.
You don’t just work.
You don’t just serve.
You don’t just endure.
You serve the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
Not for approval.
Not for appearance.
But from a sincere heart.
But to understand your service correctly, you must first rightly divide the Word of truth.
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
God is doing different things at different times.
• Israel had a prophetic, earthly program
• The Body of Christ has a heavenly calling in the mystery
Confusing those programs leads to confusion in your walk.
Mixing law and grace will always produce instability.
But when you see your identity in Christ today, everything becomes clear.
God’s plan is bigger than we often realize.
Ephesians 1:10 (KJV)
“That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ…”
• Heaven and earth will both be brought under Christ
• Different agencies… one Head
• One purpose… eternal glory in Him
And today, the Body of Christ is being prepared for a heavenly role in that plan.
Now here’s where it becomes personal:
Your salvation is settled—but your service will be evaluated.
1 Corinthians 3:13–15 (KJV)
• Salvation is by grace through faith
• But reward is based on service
You won’t be judged for your sins—Christ paid for those.
But your work… your motives… your faithfulness…
Those will be tested.
Some will receive reward.
Some will suffer loss.
Yet the believer is still saved.
So why does this matter?
Because your life right now is not meaningless.
Every act of faith.
Every stand for truth.
Every moment of service.
It echoes into eternity.
And the greatest reward?
It’s not just “being in heaven.”
It’s knowing Christ—
understanding Him more deeply—
sharing in His purpose forever.
So the question is not:
“Am I saved?”
If you’ve trusted the gospel—
Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:1–4)—
That issue is settled.
The question is:
• How are you serving?
• What are you building?
• Will it endure?
Don’t waste this present time.
Don’t live carelessly.
Don’t build with things that won’t last.
Serve Him now—
because reward is coming.
And eternity is longer than you think.
