Deception is everywhere.
False doctrine, religious tradition, and the mixing of Law and Grace can leave believers confused and spiritually immature.
That is why spiritual growth matters.
Paul tells us why God gave ministry gifts to the Body of Christ:
“For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”
— Ephesians 4:12
God doesn’t want us to remain spiritual babies.
He wants us established in sound doctrine.
“That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine.”
— Ephesians 4:14
• Don’t believe everything you hear.
• Don’t follow every religious tradition.
• Don’t mix Israel’s program with the Body of Christ.
• Don’t mix Law with Grace.
• Study the Scriptures and rightly divide them.
Paul is our apostle to the Gentiles:
“For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles…”
— Romans 11:13
And our doctrine for today centers on the Gospel of Grace:
“Christ died for our sins… And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day…”
— 1 Corinthians 15:3–4
Our salvation doesn’t depend on our performance.
Christ’s finished work is sufficient.
But salvation should lead to growth.
The more established you become in God’s Word rightly divided, the less vulnerable you become to every new teaching, religious trend, or persuasive argument.
Paul says:
“Speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.”
— Ephesians 4:15
So don’t merely know what you believe.
Know why you believe it.
Know where it belongs in God’s program.
Know the difference between Prophecy and Mystery, Israel and the Body of Christ, Law and Grace, Earth and Heaven.
STOP BEING TOSSED.
STOP BEING CONFUSED.
STOP BEING DECEIVED.
• Study the Word.
• Rightly divide the Word.
• Rest in Christ.
• Grow in sound doctrine.
“Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith…”
— Colossians 2:7
The best defense against deception isn’t knowing every counterfeit—it is knowing the truth so well that the counterfeit becomes obvious.
