When Jesus Christ revealed Himself from heaven to the Apostle Paul, something world-changing began — a new dispensation unlike anything before it. Religion ended, and grace began.
Under Israel’s program, religion was the way to approach God — temples, priests, sacrifices, feast days, and commandments written in stone. It was a system of performance: “This do, and thou shalt live.” (Luke 10:28)
But with Paul came a radical revelation — “the dispensation of the grace of God” (Ephesians 3:2).
For the first time in history, God set aside religion and law as the means of access to Him. No more temple. No more sacrifices. No more works to maintain favor. God is not dealing with Israel’s religious covenant today — He’s dealing with you personally through the finished work of His Son.
“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested…”

That phrase “but now” marks the great dispensational change. Through Paul’s gospel, God revealed that salvation is not by religious effort but by grace through faith — completely apart from works. (Ephesians 2:8–9)
Religion says: “Do this, and God might accept you.”
Grace says: “It’s done — Christ has made you accepted.” (Ephesians 1:6)
Religion always tries to earn what grace freely gives.
Religion builds walls, grace breaks them down.
Religion focuses on outward performance, grace transforms the inward man.
When you trust the gospel that Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose again the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3–4), God makes you a new creature in Christ — not a follower of a religion, but a member of a living Body, the Body of Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 Corinthians 12:13)
In this dispensation of grace, there are no “holy places,” “holy days,” or “holy men.” You are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19). Christ is your Head, and the Word of God rightly divided is your authority.
The cross ended religion.
The resurrection began grace.
The law system was nailed to the cross (Colossians 2:14).
Now God offers a relationship based entirely on what Christ has done — not what you can do.
So when Paul says, “Ye are not under the law, but under grace” (Romans 6:14), that’s not just a verse — that’s the declaration of a new era.
The end of religion is not rebellion against God.
It’s God’s own program today — the dispensation of His grace.
Stop striving to reach God through religion.
Rest in the One who reached down to you through grace.
