This question comes up every year.
When Rosh Hashanah approaches…
when trumpets are mentioned…
when someone quotes “the last trump”…
People ask:
Is the Rapture going to happen on the Feast of Trumpets?
It sounds spiritual.
It sounds prophetic.
But is it rightly divided?
Let’s slow down and let Scripture speak.
▪️The “Last Trump” — What Does It Mean?
Paul writes:
“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump…”
(1 Corinthians 15:52)
And again:
“For the Lord himself shall descend… with the trump of God…”
(1 Thessalonians 4:16)
Because of those verses, many connect the Rapture to the Feast of Trumpets in Leviticus 23.
But here’s the key question:
Is Paul referencing a Jewish feast under the Law…
or revealing a mystery never made known before?
▪️The Feast of Trumpets — A Law Ordinance
In Leviticus 23:23–25 and Numbers 29:1–6, the Feast of Trumpets was:
• A yearly observance
• Part of Israel’s covenant calendar
• Accompanied by sacrifices
• Bound to the Law of Moses
It was for Israel.
Under the Law.
In the prophetic program.
But today?
“For ye are not under the law, but under grace.”
(Romans 6:14)
And Paul is clear:
“Let no man therefore judge you… in respect of an holyday…”
(Colossians 2:16–17)
The feasts were shadows.
The Body of Christ is not under those ordinances.
So why would our blessed hope depend on a feast we are not commanded to observe?
▪️The Meaning of “Last”
Here is where clarity matters.
Some assume the “last trump” must be the seventh trumpet in Revelation.
But think carefully.
If the Rapture trumpet were the seventh trumpet of Revelation:
• The Church would go through the Tribulation.
• The Body of Christ would endure wrath.
• Our deliverance would not be “from the wrath to come.”
But Scripture says otherwise.
“Jesus… delivered us from the wrath to come.”
(1 Thessalonians 1:10)
The “last trump” does not mean “last trumpet ever in history.”
Paul uses similar language in 1 Corinthians 15:45–47:
• “Last Adam”
• “Second man”
“Last” there means second in order — not final in all existence.
At the Rapture:
• One trumpet calls the dead in Christ to rise.
• The second — the “last” — signals the change of living believers.
This is a Pauline revelation.
A mystery.
Not prophecy fulfilled.
▪️The Prophetic Program Is on Hold
Here is the heart of the issue.
The Feast of Trumpets belongs to Israel’s prophetic calendar.
But the dispensation of grace interrupted that timeline.
Romans 11 explains it.
Ephesians 3 confirms it.
The prophetic program is paused.
The mystery program is active.
Seeking Old Testament feast fulfillments during the Body of Christ age is like expecting a game to continue during a timeout.
God is doing something different today.
Not prophecy.
Mystery.
Not kingdom signs.
Grace salvation.
▪️The Rapture Is a Mystery
“Behold, I shew you a mystery…”
(1 Corinthians 15:51)
The Rapture was not revealed in the Law.
Not spoken of by the prophets.
Not part of Israel’s feast structure.
It was revealed to Paul.
It belongs to the Body of Christ.
It is heavenly in nature.
It is imminent — not calendar-bound.
Our hope is not tied to Jewish feast days.
Our hope is tied to Christ Himself.
▪️Why This Matters
Because confusion comes when we mix programs.
• Law blended with grace
• Prophecy blended with mystery
• Israel’s calendar imposed on the Body
Clarity comes when we rightly divide.
The Rapture is not a Feast of Trumpets event.
It is a grace event.
A mystery event.
A heavenly event.
And when it happens—
It will not be because a feast day arrived.
It will be because the Body is complete.
Until then?
We stand by faith.
We preach the gospel of grace.
We rest in our blessed hope.
Right division protects your peace.
Grace anchors your hope.
And Christ remains our focus — not the calendar.
“Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”
(1 Thessalonians 4:18)
