Most Christians know the words “gospel” and “grace.”
Many have heard sermons on it, sung songs about it, and even named churches after it.
But how many truly understand what the Gospel of the Grace of God is — and why it is different from the message Jesus preached to Israel?
If we want clarity, we must start with Paul, the apostle chosen by God to reveal something never before known: the mystery of the dispensation of grace (Ephesians 3:1–9).
1. Grace Is Not the Gospel Jesus Preached to Israel
Jesus’ earthly ministry (Matthew–John) focused on the Kingdom of Heaven coming to Israel:
• He preached to the “lost sheep of the house of Israel” (Matthew 15:24)
• He performed signs and miracles confirming the Messianic Kingdom (John 2:11)
• He sent the twelve apostles to the twelve tribes of Israel (Matthew 10:5–6, 19:28)
This message was tied to prophecy, law, the temple, and Jerusalem.
It was earthly in scope, future in fulfillment, and covenant-based.
But when Israel rejected Him and fell in unbelief, God unveiled a new revelation, hidden since the foundation of the world:
“…the mystery which was kept secret since the world began” (Romans 16:25)
“…the dispensation of the grace of God… revealed to me by revelation” (Ephesians 3:2–3)
This was not prophecy.
This was not the Kingdom message.
This was a new, heavenly program — revealed only to Paul.
2. What Makes Paul’s Gospel Unique
Paul’s gospel is distinct and specific:
A. Salvation is entirely by grace through faith
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8–9)
Works, law-keeping, and religious rituals have no place in earning God’s favor.
B. The Church is the Body of Christ
Jew and Gentile are united in one new man (Ephesians 2:15, Galatians 3:28)
Believers are placed into this Body at the moment of faith (1 Corinthians 12:13)
C. Our hope is heavenly, not earthly
We are seated in heavenly places with Christ (Ephesians 2:6)
Our inheritance is spiritual, eternal, and secure (Philippians 3:20)
D. The Law is not our guide
“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace” (Romans 6:14)
The Law served a purpose for Israel, but it does not govern the Church today.
E. The Gospel is revealed progressively
This mystery had been hidden from the ages and the prophets (Ephesians 3:5)
God revealed it for today — the age between Acts 9 and the Rapture — through Paul’s apostleship alone.
3. Why Understanding Paul’s Gospel Matters Today
Many believers are confused because they mix Israel’s kingdom program with the Church’s dispensation of grace:
• Some try to enforce Sabbath laws or tithing on Gentile believers (Colossians 2:16)
• Others preach a “Kingdom-first” message instead of heavenly promises (Galatians 4:26)
• Some misunderstand salvation, thinking it must be earned through works (Romans 11:6)
Rightly dividing Scripture clears all confusion. It respects who God is speaking to, under what covenant, and in what dispensation.
“Study to shew thyself approved unto God… rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15)
When we understand Paul’s gospel:
• Salvation is simple and secure
• Our identity in Christ is clear
• Our walk is empowered by grace, not guilt
• Our focus is heavenly, not earthly
4. How to Walk in the Gospel of Grace
Walking in the Gospel of Grace is not about striving harder. It’s about living from what God has already done:
• Believe that you are forgiven, accepted, and seated with Christ (Ephesians 1:3–14)
• Walk by faith, empowered by the Holy Spirit (Galatians 2:20, Romans 8:11)
• Serve from love, not obligation (2 Corinthians 5:14)
• Trust God’s Word, not man’s traditions (Colossians 3:16)
Grace is not passive.
Grace is not weakness.
Grace is power, freedom, and victory — flowing from the finished work of Christ.
Conclusion:
The Gospel of the Grace of God is:
• Heavenly in scope, revealed through Paul
• Faith-based, not law-based
• Focused on identity, not performance
• Relevant to the Church today, not to the nation of Israel
If you want to understand the Bible clearly, begin here:
Study Paul.
Believe Paul.
Walk in Paul’s gospel.
This is the gospel for today — the only gospel that reveals God’s grace in operation.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth…”
(Romans 1:16)
Remember: All Scripture is God’s Word — but not all Scripture is for the same people, in the same age. Rightly dividing the Word unlocks the clarity of God’s grace.
