What God Is Forming Today Under Paul’s Ministry
When God saved the Apostle Paul on the road to Damascus, He began something totally new—a purpose He had kept hidden since the world began (Eph. 3:1–9). That purpose is the creation of a new creature: the Body of Christ (2 Cor. 5:17; Eph. 2:15).
Most people read their Bible thinking God is still dealing with Israel today. But Paul reveals that God paused Israel’s prophetic program (Rom. 11:11–12, 25) and opened a brand-new, unprophesied program of grace to all nations, forming a spiritual body that is not Israel and not Gentile—just one new man (Eph. 2:14–16).
1. A New Identity — “If any man be in Christ…” (2 Cor. 5:17)
In prophecy, Israel was God’s chosen nation with earthly promises. Gentiles were “afar off” (Eph. 2:12).
But in this dispensation, God does something never revealed before:
• He unites all believers into one Body
• Gives them a heavenly calling (Eph. 1:3; Phil. 3:20)
• Makes them members of Christ Himself (1 Cor. 12:12–13)
This is why Paul calls it a new creature.
We’re not spiritual Israelites.
We’re not a continuation of Israel’s covenants. We are a brand-new thing created by God through Christ’s cross-work.
2. A New Union — Baptized Into One Body (1 Cor. 12:13)
In Israel’s program, water baptism identified the believing remnant within the nation.
But today, the Holy Spirit baptizes, not a priest, not a preacher.
By Spirit baptism, God:
• Places us into Christ
• Seals us (Eph. 1:13)
• Makes us dead to sin and alive unto God (Rom. 6:3–11)
This baptism is real, invisible, spiritual—and it’s how the Body of Christ is formed.
3. A Heavenly Purpose — Blessed in Heavenly Places (Eph. 1:3)
Israel’s hope is earthly: a kingdom, a land, and a King reigning from Jerusalem (Isa. 2:1–4; Luke 1:31–33).
But the Body of Christ has a heavenly hope and destiny.
We will:
• Be caught up in the rapture before God resumes His dealings with Israel (1 Thess. 4:13–18)
• Take part in the heavenly government (2 Tim. 2:12; Eph. 1:20–23)
• Display the riches of God’s grace in the ages to come (Eph. 2:6–7)
We aren’t waiting for the kingdom to come to earth—we’re waiting for Christ to take us home.
4. A New Walk — Not Under the Law, But Under Grace (Rom. 6:14)
Israel was under the Law.
But the new creature walks under the instructions given to Paul:
• “Walk in newness of life” (Rom. 6:4)
• “Walk worthy of the Lord” (Col. 1:10)
• “Stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free” (Gal. 5:1)
We don’t follow Israel’s ordinances, feast days, temple practices, water baptisms, or covenant laws.
We live by the grace doctrines revealed to Paul for the Body of Christ.
5. A Unified Body — Christ Our Head (Col. 1:18)
God is not forming a nation today; He is forming a Body.
Every member matters.
Every member has a function.
And Christ is the Head who supplies everything we need (Eph. 4:15–16).
There’s no Jew vs. Gentile, male vs. female, high vs. low.
Grace makes us one.
The Distinction Matters
If we confuse Israel and the Body of Christ:
• We mix law and grace
• We confuse earthly promises with heavenly ones
• We blur prophecy and mystery
• We lose the power of who God made us right now
But when we rightly divide (2 Tim. 2:15), everything becomes clear—and Christ becomes bigger in our eyes.
You are part of something God planned before the world began but revealed only to Paul.
A new creature.
A heavenly people.
The Body of Christ.
Walk worthy of who God made you to be.
