— How It Actually Works Today
Every time we open the Scriptures, we’re doing something far more profound than just reading a religious book—we’re letting the living God speak through the words He has written.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Tim. 3:16), and that word inspiration means God literally breathed out the words on the page.
They are not guesses, religious impressions, or mystical feelings—they are God’s own thoughts, preserved in writing, so that every believer can hold them, read them, and understand His will.
But here’s the problem:
Many Christians today chase experiences, emotions, and external signs, assuming that’s the Holy Spirit.
Some follow rituals.
Some rely on music-driven emotional highs. Others search for “signs” in circumstances. Still others seek miracles, relics, ceremonies, and spectacle.
But none of that is how the Holy Spirit is working in the present dispensation of grace (Eph. 3:2).
From Genesis onward, the pattern is the same:
When God’s Spirit moves, God speaks—through WORDS.
“And the Spirit of God moved… and God said…” (Gen. 1:2–3)
The Spirit speaks through the written Word, not through material objects, emotional hype, or mystical impressions.
Jesus settled this plainly:
“The words that I speak unto you, THEY are spirit, and THEY are life.” — John 6:63
The Spirit does His work through Scripture, not through the flesh.
Worship isn’t about the atmosphere, the sound system, the building, the lighting, or the emotional high.
Jesus said the Father seeks worshippers who worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:23), and truth is defined by Jesus Himself:
“Thy word is truth.” — John 17:17
If you want to worship God in spirit and in truth, you do so by faith in what His Word says, rightly divided (2 Tim. 2:15), especially the doctrine revealed through the Apostle Paul for us today (Rom. 11:13).
THE MOMENT YOU TRUST CHRIST — WHAT THE HOLY SPIRIT ACTUALLY DOES
Paul makes it unmistakable: the instant you believe the gospel of your salvation (Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose again — 1 Cor. 15:3–4), the Holy Spirit seals you (Eph. 1:13).
And at that very moment, God performs a series of spiritual operations that define your new identity in Christ.
A helpful way to remember this is the acronym C.R.I.B.S. — because the moment you were saved, God placed you into a brand-new spiritual “crib,” giving you a new identity and new life.
C — CIRCUMCISED (Separation From the Old You)
Colossians 2:11–12
Without any human hands, God spiritually cut you off from who you were in Adam. Your old identity—your flesh, your past, your guilt, your bondage—is no longer the source of your life.
This isn’t a ritual. It’s a spiritual reality.
Your old man was “put off,” cut away from your new identity in Christ. You are no longer chained to sin as a master (Rom. 6:6–7).
R — REGENERATED (Given New Life)
Titus 3:5; Ephesians 2:1; John 1:4
Before salvation, your spirit was dead—alienated from God, unable to understand spiritual truth. Through the “washing of regeneration,” God gave you the life of Christ Himself.
You were not merely forgiven; you were made alive.
The life of Christ brings spiritual light, renewing the inner man and opening your understanding (Eph. 1:18).
I — INDWELT (God Himself Lives in You)
1 Corinthians 6:19; Romans 8:9–11
In this dispensation, God does not dwell in temples, church buildings, or sacred sites.
He dwells in you.
Your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost. Wherever you go, the Spirit goes. You don’t “go to God”—God lives in you because you are in Christ.
B — BAPTIZED INTO CHRIST (Given a New Identity)
1 Corinthians 12:13; Romans 6:3–4; Galatians 3:27
This is not water baptism.
It is a Spirit baptism, placing you into the Body of Christ the moment you believe.
You were once “in Adam,” but now you are “in Christ.”
You were once condemned, but now you are accepted in the Beloved (Eph. 1:6).
Your identity is not a work in progress—it is a present, complete reality (Col. 2:10).
S — SEALED (Eternally Secure)
Ephesians 1:13–14; Ephesians 4:30
You are sealed with the Holy Spirit—not just by Him, but with Him.
He is the seal, the guarantee, the down payment of your future glory.
Even when your faith falters, He remains faithful (2 Tim. 2:13).
Your salvation is not maintained by your performance but secured by His presence.
SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU TODAY?
It means you don’t have to chase religious hype.
You don’t have to wonder how the Spirit leads.
You don’t have to guess about God’s will.
You don’t have to fear losing your salvation. You don’t have to live out of your past identity.
Everything God does today He does through His Word working in your inner man (Eph. 3:16).
When you believe what God says, the Spirit strengthens you, renews you, and transforms you—from the inside out.
No rituals,
no sensations,
no theatrics,
no superstition.
Just the Word of God operating effectually in you who believe (1 Thess. 2:13).
