Paul gives the believer practical marching orders when it comes to reaching the lost.
In Colossians 4:5–6 (KJV) he writes:
“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt…”
Those three short phrases carry a lifetime of ministry wisdom.
▪️1. Walk Wisely Around Those Who Are Without
The unbelieving world is always watching — especially when they know you name Christ.
Nothing weakens a testimony faster than careless living.
Nothing strengthens it more than genuine love, kindness, and consistency.
We cannot preach grace while behaving without grace.
We cannot insist on truth while living contrary to it.
The lost may disagree with our doctrine,
but they cannot ignore a life that reflects Christ.
▪️2. Redeem the Time
Evangelism doesn’t happen by accident.
Paul calls us to redeem the time —
to buy it back, to make it count, to invest it well.
We don’t have endless hours.
We don’t have endless opportunities.
Our ambassadorship (2 Corinthians 5:18–20) is not a side hobby —
it is our present assignment in this age of grace.
If we don’t make room for the gospel, the world will fill our schedule for us.
▪️3. Speak With Grace, Seasoned With Salt
Truth without grace is harsh.
Grace without truth is empty.
Paul calls for both.
Our speech must be clear, bold, honest, and doctrinally sound —
but it must also carry warmth, empathy, and genuine care.
People listen differently when they know they’re loved.
The soul is more open when it senses compassion.
We tell the truth because Christ is the truth.
We tell it with grace because Christ is full of grace.
Put Them Together and Watch What Happens
• Wise conduct
• Urgent stewardship
• Gracious speech
These three are not optional disciplines —
they are God’s pattern for effective witness.
We cannot change hearts — only God can.
But we can prepare the ground so the seed may take root.
Walk wisely.
Use your time well.
Speak with grace.
This is how ambassadors shine in the age of grace.
