One of the questions believers often wrestle with is the nature of the Trinity.
How can God be One, yet exist as three distinct Persons?
The Trinity is not three “parts” of God—each 33% of the whole—but three full Persons who share the essence of deity: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Think of humanity: we are all distinct individuals, yet share the same human nature. Similarly, the Trinity is one in essence, but three in persons. Each Person of the Godhead is fully God, co-equal in power, wisdom, and glory.
👉God the Father is called God (Ephesians 4:6).
👉God the Son is called God (Hebrews 1:8; John 1:1,14). Jesus Christ is the Word made flesh, revealing the Father to humanity.
👉God the Holy Spirit is called God (Acts 5:3-4). Peter equates lying to the Spirit with lying to God.
All three Persons are co-operating yet distinct, working together in perfect unity.
Illustrations in Scripture:
Matthew 3:16-17 shows the Father speaking, the Son being baptized, and the Spirit descending—three Persons in one divine work.
2 Corinthians 13:14 demonstrates the co-equal blessing of the Trinity: “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”
1 John 5:7 (KJV) also clearly expresses this: “There are three that bear record in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost; and these three are one.”
The Trinity in Redemption
The Trinity is not just a theological concept—it is the active, working God who redeems humanity.
• God the Father plans salvation (Isaiah 53; 2 Corinthians 5:21).
• God the Son, Jesus Christ, executes the plan through the Incarnation, dying for our sins and rising to bring life (John 10:17-18; Romans 6:4).
• God the Holy Spirit applies the work of Christ to the believer—baptizing us into union with Jesus, interceding on our behalf, and empowering us to live in righteousness (Romans 8:26-27).
Every act of salvation—from the planning, to the sacrifice, to the application—is a coordinated work of the Triune God.
Romans 8:31-34 reminds us of this incredible truth: “If God is for us, who can be against us?”
The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are all for you—and nothing can overcome that.
Application for Today
When you trust Christ as your Savior:
• You are united with the Son in His death and resurrection.
• You are sealed and empowered with the Spirit.
• You can rest in the Father’s plan and love.
Faith is the response.
Not feelings.
Not circumstances.
But faith in the living, Triune God who is already at work for your good.
Take time today to study His Word, trust His plan, and rejoice in the Trinity—because God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are all working for you.
Remember: Life’s stage is where you live God’s Word; Scripture is where you find God’s will. Learn it, trust it, and rejoice—because the Triune God is for you!
