Unity in the Body of Christ

Written by Ralph Mark B. Malinao

RIGHTLY DIVIDED, ROOTED IN GRACE

Unity is not confusion.
Unity is not compromise.
Unity is not blending everything together.

True unity is found in truth—rightly divided.

God is doing something specific today.
And when we understand what He is doing, unity becomes clear.

“For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery…”
— Romans 11:25 (KJV)

1. UNITY BEGINS WITH PAUL’S GOSPEL

There is one message for today—
the gospel of the grace of God.

“How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery…”
— Ephesians 3:3 (KJV)

Paul was given a distinct revelation.
Not a continuation of prophecy—
but a mystery hidden in God.

And in that message:

• Jew and Gentile are one
• Not under the law
• But under grace

This is where unity starts.

Not in religion.
Not in tradition.
But in the gospel committed to Paul.

2. UNITY IS IN GRACE—NOT LAW

Confusion comes when law and grace are mixed.
Division comes when programs are blended.

But clarity comes when we see the difference.

“For ye are not under the law, but under grace.”
— Romans 6:14 (KJV)

Israel had a program.
The Body of Christ has a calling.

Today:

• We are saved by grace
• We stand in grace
• We walk in grace

And when believers rest in that truth—
unity follows.

3. UNITY COMES FROM KNOWING WHO WE ARE

We are not Israel.
We are not under the kingdom program.

We are the Body of Christ.

“And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
Which is his body…”
— Ephesians 1:22–23 (KJV)

Christ is the Head.
We are the members.

Different backgrounds—yes.
Different cultures—yes.

But one Body.
One position.
One identity in Christ.

4. UNITY IS STRENGTHENED BY RIGHT DIVISION

“Rightly dividing the word of truth.”
— 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)

When the Bible is not rightly divided:

• Law gets mixed with grace
• Israel gets confused with the Church
• Doctrine becomes unstable

But when it is rightly divided:

• Truth becomes clear
• Doctrine becomes sound
• Unity becomes possible

Unity is not forced—
it flows from understanding.

5. UNITY STANDS ON TRUTH—NOT TOLERANCE OF ERROR

Not every teaching brings unity.
Some teachings divide because they are wrong.

“Mark them which cause divisions… contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.”
— Romans 16:17 (KJV)

Real unity:

• Stands on sound doctrine
• Rejects confusion
• Holds fast to truth

Not harsh.
But firm.
Not divisive.
But discerning.

IN SUMMARY

Unity in the Body of Christ is found:

• In Paul’s gospel
• In grace, not law
• In knowing our identity in Christ
• In rightly dividing the Word
• In standing on sound doctrine

This is not man’s system.
This is God’s design.

And when we see it—
when we believe it—
when we walk in it—

We don’t create unity.

We enter into the unity God already made.
