Some believers quietly wonder:
“Is the Holy Spirit still working like He did in Acts?”
The answer is yes.
But we must rightly divide.
Because what the Spirit did at the beginning of the Dispensation of Grace
is not identical to how He works throughout the rest of it.
Let’s slow down.
Let Scripture speak.
▪️At the Beginning of the Dispensation of Grace
When God introduced the mystery program through Paul,
the Holy Spirit moved in powerful, foundational ways.
He:
• Raised Christ from the dead (Romans 8:11)
• Empowered Paul’s apostleship (Romans 15:18–19)
• Distributed spiritual gifts to establish the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12)
Those sign gifts served a purpose.
They confirmed the new message.
They established the new apostle.
They grounded the early church.
But Scripture shows those gifts were temporary (1 Corinthians 13:8–10).
The foundation has been laid.
Now we live in the settled, ongoing ministry of the Spirit.
And it is deeper than signs.
Stronger than spectacle.
More powerful than emotion.
▪️What the Holy Spirit Is Doing Today
Not dramatic.
Not sensational.
But constant.
Personal.
Profound.
Let’s walk through it.
▪️The Spirit’s Work at Salvation
The moment a sinner believes the gospel of grace
(1 Corinthians 15:1–4)
The Spirit acts immediately.
He:
• Justifies us — declaring us righteous in Christ (1 Corinthians 6:11)
• Places us into the Body of Christ by Spirit baptism (1 Corinthians 12:13)
• Gives us spiritual life (Romans 8:10)
• Makes us sons of God (Galatians 4:6)
• Seals us until the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13–14)
That seal is secure.
“The Lord knoweth them that are his.”
And those who name Christ are called to depart from iniquity (2 Timothy 2:19).
This is not emotional security.
It is positional security.
▪️The Spirit’s Indwelling Ministry
Today, the Spirit:
• Dwells in every believer (1 Corinthians 6:19)
• Sanctifies — sets us apart for God’s purpose (2 Thessalonians 2:13)
• Serves as the earnest — the down payment of future glory (Ephesians 1:14)
• Gives us access to the Father (Ephesians 2:18)
• Bears witness that we are children of God (Romans 8:16)
He teaches us to cry, “Abba, Father.”
Not ritual.
Not fear.
Relationship.
▪️The Spirit and Our Daily Walk
The Spirit leads us — not back to the Law —
but into liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17).
He strengthens the inner man (Ephesians 3:16).
He enables us to:
• Walk in the Spirit (Galatians 5:16)
• Mind the things of the Spirit (Romans 8:5)
• Mortify the deeds of the flesh (Romans 8:13)
When we choose sin, He is grieved (Ephesians 4:30).
When we yield, He produces fruit:
• Love
• Joy
• Peace
• Longsuffering
• Gentleness
• Goodness
• Faith
• Meekness
• Temperance
(Galatians 5:22–23)
Not manufactured fruit.
Spirit-produced fruit.
▪️The Spirit and the Word of God
In this dispensation, the Spirit does not bypass Scripture.
He works through it.
He:
• Speaks through the written Word
• Reveals spiritual truth (1 Corinthians 2:12–13)
• Uses the Word as the sword (Ephesians 6:17)
• Bears witness to the truth
The natural man cannot receive these things.
But the spiritual man can.
Why?
Because the Spirit illuminates what He inspired.
Rightly divided truth.
Understood by spiritual illumination.
▪️The Spirit and Our Prayer Life
Romans 8 tells us something beautiful.
When we do not know how to pray as we ought,
The Spirit helps our infirmities.
He intercedes with groanings which cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26).
Not ecstatic speech.
Not mystical utterance.
But divine intercession aligned with the will of God.
Quiet.
Deep.
Faithful.
▪️The Spirit and Our Hope
He enables us to wait for the blessed hope.
To look for the catching up.
To groan within ourselves, waiting for redemption (Romans 8:23).
And the same Spirit who raised up Christ
will quicken our mortal bodies (Romans 8:11).
The Spirit is the guarantee
that the rapture is not a theory.
It is a promise.
▪️No Less Powerful — Just Different
In Acts, you see miracles.
In Grace, you see transformation.
In early days, visible signs.
Today, inward power.
Do not mistake quieter for weaker.
The Spirit is:
• Justifying
• Sealing
• Indwelling
• Teaching
• Strengthening
• Interceding
• Producing fruit
• Preparing us for glory
Every single day.
▪️Why This Matters
When you feel alone —
He dwells in you.
When you feel weak —
He strengthens the inner man.
When you struggle in prayer —
He intercedes.
When you battle the flesh —
He wars against it.
When you doubt your salvation —
You are sealed.
Study these truths.
Meditate on them.
Because when you understand what the Holy Spirit is doing today,
You will walk differently.
You will pray differently.
You will rest differently.
And you will rejoice differently.
We are not waiting for another Pentecost.
We are living in the fullness of Grace.
And the Spirit of God
is actively, faithfully, powerfully working
in every member of the Body of Christ.
Stand in that.
Walk in that.
Rejoice in that.
Grace is not empty.
Grace is empowered.
