—Tradition or the Word Rightly Divided?
Every church is building something.
The real question is:
Are you building on what God honors… or what man prefers?
Because not everything called “church” is built according to God’s pattern.
▪️GOD ALWAYS BUILDS BY HIS WORD
From the very beginning, God works the same way:
“And God said…”
—Genesis 1:3 (KJV)
He speaks.
He establishes.
He orders.
Creation itself was not random—
It was structured by the Word of God.
▪️A PATTERN YOU CAN TRACE
That same pattern shows up again and again:
• Noah’s ark—built exactly as instructed
• The tabernacle—according to a divine pattern
• The temple—measured and designed precisely
God doesn’t build loosely.
He builds intentionally, by His Word.
▪️THE CHURCH IS NO DIFFERENT
Today, God is building something new—
Not Israel’s kingdom…
But the Body of Christ.
And He is still building the same way:
• By His Word
• Through clear revelation
• With exact instruction
▪️THE WISE MASTER BUILDER
Paul says:
“As a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation…”
—1 Corinthians 3:10 (KJV)
That’s not a casual statement.
Paul was given something unique:
• The revelation of the mystery
• Truth kept secret since the world began
• Doctrine specifically for the Body of Christ
If you want to know how the Church is to function—
You go to Paul.
▪️THE FOUNDATION MATTERS
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
—1 Corinthians 3:11 (KJV)
But how you build on that foundation matters.
• Right doctrine = stability
• Wrong doctrine = confusion
If you mix Law and Grace…
You weaken the structure.
▪️GOD USES BUILDING LANGUAGE FOR A REASON
Scripture describes the Church like a structure:
• A foundation
• A cornerstone
• A building fitly framed together
“In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth…”
—Ephesians 2:21 (KJV)
Every believer has a place.
Every part matters.
▪️WHAT HOLDS IT ALL TOGETHER?
Not programs.
Not personalities.
Not performance.
But charity.
“And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.”
—Colossians 3:14 (KJV)
Truth builds the structure.
Love holds it together.
▪️WHERE THINGS GO WRONG
When churches are not built on rightly divided truth:
• They mix Israel and the Church
• They confuse Law with Grace
• They replace Scripture with tradition
And the result?
Instability.
▪️WHAT ABOUT YOU?
You are part of this building.
So ask yourself:
• Am I grounded in sound doctrine?
• Am I growing according to God’s Word?
• Am I building with what God has revealed for today?
▪️FINAL THOUGHT
God is still building.
But He hasn’t changed His method.
He builds by His Word—
Rightly divided.
Clearly understood.
Faithfully applied.
Build your life there.
Build your ministry there.
Because only what is built on God’s pattern… will stand.
