The Gospel of the Kingdom Is NOT the Gospel of Grace
Not all good news in the Bible is the same.
And not every gospel is addressed to you.
This is not controversy.
This is clarity.
This is not dividing the body.
This is rightly dividing the Scriptures.
God gave Israel a gospel.
God gave Paul a gospel.
And they are not identical.
▪️A KINGDOM GOSPEL… FOR A KINGDOM PEOPLE
Before the cross, the message was simple:
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
(Matt. 4:17)
Why repentance?
Why urgency?
Because Israel’s King was in their midst.
The promised kingdom was being offered.
The covenants were in view.
It was a gospel preparing the nation
for their long-awaited Messiah
and His earthly, Davidic kingdom.
It involved:
• Water baptism
• Signs and wonders
• Following the Messiah
• Obeying His commandments
• Enduring to the end (Matt. 24:13)
It was good news—
but it was Israel’s good news.
A gospel tied to prophecy.
A gospel tied to covenants.
A gospel tied to a kingdom on earth.
▪️A DIFFERENT GOSPEL… FOR A DIFFERENT DISPENSATION
Then something happened.
Israel fell (Rom. 11:11).
Salvation was sent to the Gentiles (Rom. 11:13).
God revealed a mystery kept hidden (Eph. 3:1–9).
And with that revelation came a new message:
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”
(Acts 16:31)
No kingdom required.
No nation to join.
No enduring to the end.
No water ritual to enter the program.
Just Christ.
Just His finished work.
Just faith.
Paul calls it:
• “My gospel” (Rom. 16:25)
• “The gospel of the grace of God” (Acts 20:24)
• “The gospel… by revelation of Jesus Christ” (Gal. 1:11–12)
This gospel is not prophecy fulfilled.
It is mystery revealed.
Not the King offered to Israel—
but the Savior offered to the world.
Not a message requiring repentance for a kingdom—
but a message offering reconciliation by grace.
▪️TWO GOSPELS—ONE GOD, ONE PLAN, DIFFERENT DISPENSATIONS
God has one eternal purpose.
But He works in different ways at different times.
• The kingdom gospel prepared Israel for her Messiah.
• The grace gospel creates a new creature—the Body of Christ.
One gospel says, “The kingdom is at hand.”
The other says, “You are complete in Him.” (Col. 2:10)
One gospel says, “Endure to the end.”
The other says, “Ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” (Eph. 4:30)
One gospel looks for a King.
The other rests in a Savior.
▪️SO WHICH GOSPEL ARE YOU PREACHING?
If we preach the kingdom gospel today,
we preach the right message in the wrong dispensation.
If we preach the grace gospel today,
we preach the message Christ gave to the apostle of the Gentiles.
The difference matters.
It matters for clarity.
It matters for assurance.
It matters for souls.
The gospel of the kingdom pointed to the King.
The gospel of grace points to the cross.
And today—
in this age—
under grace—
we preach Christ crucified, risen, and offered freely to all.
“Christ died for our sins… He was buried… He rose again.”
(1 Cor. 15:3–4)
That is our message.
That is our hope.
That is our gospel.
And that is why we ask with love and urgency—
“Which gospel are you preaching?”
