That phrase unsettles some people.
“According to my gospel…”
— Romans 2:16
— Romans 16:25
— 2 Timothy 2:8
They ask:
“Wasn’t there only one gospel?”
“Why would Paul call it my gospel?”
“Isn’t that divisive?”
Let’s slow down.
Let’s rightly divide.
And let Scripture speak.
▪️Paul Is Not Claiming Ownership
When Paul says “my gospel,”
he is not claiming authorship.
The gospel is God’s.
But the revelation was entrusted to him.
“The gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
For I neither received it of man… but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
— Galatians 1:11–12
That matters.
Paul did not receive his message from the Twelve.
He did not sit under Peter.
He received it directly from the risen, glorified Christ.
That is not pride.
That is apostleship.
▪️A Distinct Revelation in This Dispensation
In time past:
The gospel of the kingdom was preached.
“Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
— Matthew 4:17
It was tied to Israel.
To covenant promises.
To a coming earthly kingdom.
But Paul says something different.
“The dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward.”
— Ephesians 3:2
Given to me.
For you.
God interrupted prophecy
and revealed a mystery.
“According to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began.”
— Romans 16:25
Peter preached what was spoken since the world began (Acts 3:21).
Paul preached what was kept secret since the world began.
That is not contradiction.
That is progression.
▪️What Is “My Gospel”?
It is the gospel of the grace of God (Acts 20:24).
It is:
• Christ died for our sins
• He was buried
• He rose again the third day
(1 Corinthians 15:1–4)
No kingdom conditions.
No covenant law.
No water requirement.
Just grace.
Through faith.
Plus nothing.
▪️Why Emphasize It?
Because mixture destroys clarity.
If you blend Israel’s kingdom message
with Paul’s mystery revelation —
You lose precision.
You blur identity.
You confuse the hope.
Paul emphasizes “my gospel” because:
• The Body of Christ needs clarity
• The cross must remain central
• Grace must remain pure
He even tells Timothy:
“Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel.”
— 2 Timothy 2:8
Why?
Because in the last days,
truth drifts.
Mixture creeps in.
And grace gets diluted.
▪️This Is About Stewardship, Not Superiority
Paul calls himself:
“The apostle of the Gentiles.”
— Romans 11:13
He magnifies his office.
Not himself.
The office.
The stewardship.
The dispensation entrusted to him.
When we preach Paul’s gospel today,
we are not being divisive.
We are being faithful.
Faithful to the revelation given for this present age.
▪️Rest in the Clarity of Grace
“My gospel” is not a different Savior.
It is not a different cross.
It is not a different blood.
It is the same Christ —
But revealed in the fullness of grace
for a heavenly people
in a mystery program
during this dispensation.
And when you see that,
You rest.
You stop trying to live in another program.
You stop borrowing kingdom instructions.
You stand in grace.
Rightly divided truth protects that simplicity.
“My gospel” is Paul’s emphasis.
Because this is the dispensation of grace entrusted to Paul.
And grace must remain unmixed.
