(The Blessed Hope Before the Wrath)
In a world filled with confusion about “end times,” one of the most misunderstood truths is the Pre-Tribulation Rapture of the Body of Christ. Many confuse Israel’s prophetic program with the mystery program revealed to the Apostle Paul. But when we rightly divide the Word of Truth (2 Timothy 2:15), the timing becomes clear.
• Two Programs — Two Purposes
The Bible reveals two distinct programs:
• Prophecy (since the world began) – God’s plan for Israel and the earth (Luke 1:68–70; Acts 3:19–21).
• Mystery (kept secret since the world began) – God’s plan for the Body of Christ and heaven (Romans 16:25; Ephesians 3:8–11).
The coming Tribulation (Daniel’s 70th week) is part of Israel’s prophetic program. It is called “the time of Jacob’s trouble” (Jeremiah 30:7), not the Body of Christ’s trouble.
• Paul’s Unique Revelation of the Rapture
The Rapture — the catching away of the Body of Christ — was a mystery revealed only to Paul, not found in the prophets, nor in the earthly ministry of Christ.
“Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed…”
— 1 Corinthians 15:51–52
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven… and the dead in Christ shall rise first.”
— 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17
This event is separate from Christ’s return to the earth in judgment. The Rapture is our gathering unto Him (2 Thessalonians 2:1) — while His Second Coming to Israel is Him coming with His saints (angels) to reign (Revelation 19:11–14).
• Not Appointed to Wrath
Paul clearly says:
“For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.”
— 1 Thessalonians 5:9
The Tribulation is God’s wrath poured out on a Christ-rejecting world (Revelation 6:16–17). Since the Body of Christ has already been reconciled to God through grace (2 Corinthians 5:18–19), we cannot be part of that wrath.
We are delivered “from the wrath to come” (1 Thessalonians 1:10) — not preserved through it, but taken out before it begins.
• The Rapture Ends the Dispensation of Grace
When the Body of Christ is complete (Romans 11:25), this present age of grace will end. God will resume His prophetic dealings with Israel — restoring the program He paused after their rejection of the risen Christ.
Just as God turned from Israel temporarily to form the Body of Christ (Acts 9, Romans 11:11–12), He will one day remove the Body and turn back to Israel’s prophetic timeline.
The Rapture, therefore, is the bridge between the Mystery and the Prophecy programs.
• Our Blessed Hope — Not Dread
While Israel looks for the signs of the coming Tribulation and the earthly kingdom (Matthew 24), we look for a Person, not a prophecy.
“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”
— Titus 2:13
We don’t watch for the Antichrist, the mark, or the judgments — we await Christ Himself from heaven. This is a hope, not a terror.
• Rightly Dividing the Coming of Christ
Rapture vs. Second Coming
Rapture
• For: Body of Christ
• Timing: Before Tribulation
• Description: Christ comes in the air to catch us away (1 Thess. 4:16–17)
Second Coming
• For: Israel
• Timing: After Tribulation
• Description: Christ comes to the earth to reign (Zech. 14:4; Rev. 19:11–16)
These two comings are not the same. One is grace and deliverance, the other wrath and judgment.
• Why It Matters
Believing in the Pre-Tribulation Rapture is not about escaping hardship — it’s about understanding your identity in Christ.
We are not Israel waiting for the Kingdom — we are the Body of Christ seated in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6), awaiting our heavenly calling.
When you rightly divide the Word, the Pre-Tribulation Rapture isn’t just a hope — it’s the only view that fits the Bible dispensationally.
We’re not waiting for the Tribulation.
We’re waiting for Christ.
That’s our Blessed Hope, our Heavenly Calling, our Assured Deliverance.
